A very rare poster of Montoya by the great Mexican artist Pancho Garcia Diego. Produced for the wrestler’s farewell tour of the Guadalajara region, they are now valuable collectors’ pieces.
Miles Gibson wrestled in Mexico under the name Fernando Montoya and subsequently battled his way across the USA under many different disguises including Johnny “the Mule” Montoya, the Hell-raiser and the Masked Marauder. Although he was never a great mat technician his stamina and intestinal fortitude won him many admirers. His speciality moves were the high-flying high-risk Lightning Strike and a submission hold called the Brain Buster. During his brief time with the WWF he featured in Wrestlemania with a no-holds Rage-in-a-Cage match against Abdullah the Turk. He had three successful seasons with Japan All Stars where he clashed with some of the great wrestlers of the day including Shinya Hashimoto and Masahiro Chono; and he once fought a championship grudge match with the great Keiji Mutoh aka the Great Muta. He took to writing after a neck injury forced his retirement from the ring. His first published work ‘The Grappler’s Defence’ was an epic collection of wrestling poems.
