Gibson was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Educated at North Ridge Academy for Boys. Football. Archery. Freestyle wrestling. Founders Medal for Poetry. Graduated Harvard BA magna cum laude with distinction Classical Philosophy. After leaving Harvard Gibson devoted the early years to deciphering medieval palimpsests. He never married and still lives alone in the family house in which he was born and raised. When not writing his popular Merry Musings column for the Grand Fork Herald, he visits crime scenes and collects morgue photographs of murder victims. He is thought to have the largest collection of autopsy pictures in the world. ‘You’ve Got to Laugh – twenty years of Merry Musings from the Grand Fork Herald’ is now available in paperback.
