Gibson was born in the back streets of Glasgow, the son of a nurse and a shipyard worker. After leaving school he took a string of factory jobs before moving to Los Angeles in the early Eighties. After gaining his licence as a bounty hunter and firearms instructor he specialised in surveillance technology. He now works as a private bodyguard to the Hollywood stars and runs a successful security consultancy. He discovered a talent for fiction during the Glendale Murder Trial when he was called upon to give evidence in defence of Fat Eddy Brewster. His kiss-and-tell biography of the late Playboy beauty Vienna Darling and the ‘Secrets of the Hollywood Seven’ have both been international best sellers.

This picture was taken by the free-lance photographer Jackie ‘Big Boy’ Sherman just moments before he was head-butted and left in the street with fractured ribs and a broken collarbone. Gibson was greatly feared by the paparazzi and twice arrested for aggravated assault.
